Victor Jr Heads on Goodwrench 350
Hi guys,
I'm brand new to the forum as a member but have been reading alot for the last couple of months.
Im looking to up the power on my Goodwrench 350 (260 hp version, 8.5:1 compression with 74cc heads cam Hydraulic flat tappet cam (.383''/.401'' Lift, 194 / 202 Duration @ .050'', and 112° lobe separation) )
I have a line a set of Edelbrock Victor Jr heads, but im a little concerned they are more head then I could work with. I'm fully aware that I will need to upgrade the cam as well, but Ill tackle that after moving with the heads.
Now my other option is to go with set of Vortecs from a 97 tahoe. Which I think will also get me close to where I want to be. Im hoping to get up around 400 drivable hp. Any guidance you guys can provide me would be fantastic
Thanks,

400 is going to be tough with the kerosene compatible compression ratio you have. something around a 64 cc chamber will bump you up to (Hopefuly ) between 8.5-1 or 9-1 compression.then somewhere around a 180 maybe 190 cc intake will get you on the path, then have a couple different cam companies help you pick a cam based on all the factors involved. good luck.

I think the victor jrs are a bit much for a goodwrench 350. Thats alot of port volume for that engine and the bottom end wont last at the rpms youll need to get those heads to start working they way they were intended. I think youll be much happier with the vortecs.

Melting Slicks
Vortecs for the top of your Goodwrench - no question !
Those Vic Jrs are more racing oriented, where the vortecs are street oriented.
plus you can drop in better springs to go with better cams later.

Awesome. Vortec is the approach then. Have any of you guys heard of a 908 vortec head? They guy works at a GMC service place and had pulled them off a stock motor, but he mentioned that one side was 908 and the other was 906. Put me off a little but because I don't want different performing heads on each side.
