Default A Arm rubber bushes tightening method.

I will soon be finished fitting new bushes and I know that the weight of the car needs to be on the wheels before tightening the bolts, but I am working on a flat garage floor with no lift etc. Will it be acceptable to place large blocks under the front wheels and lower the car onto these so that I can get enough space to reach the bolts or does the car have to be sitting flat?

Not on a Corvette, but that is how I have done them many times on Chevelles and Monte Carlos.

That is exactly the way I would tackle it if it were me. I just finished that job in March and used poly bushings so that I could avoid that. I saw no way the I was going to be able to get a torque wrench on the bolts with all the interference from the shroud and engine. I am glad that job is over...except it highlighted just how much slop is in the steering wheel now. That will need to be addressed soon.

You want to tighten the bolts with the arms in basically the same position, relative to the frame, as they will be when the car is sitting flat.
How you achieve this shouldn't matter.
I lowered the car onto 4 drive on ramps, which still left room to work, then back up to finish other items
