The super door hinge
After looking at the state at which both sets of door hinges I have in my possesion are in I decided it was time to rework them. But since I am doing a lot of body work and will be repainting the entire car I thought it would be nice to make the doors removable without having to realign them everytime I put them back on. So this is what I came up with, The Super Hinge. I will consider going into a small production run of these if the interest is there. These will far outlast the stockers. They can be used with or without the spring, the bushings are made from oil impregnated bronze and are over 1/2" long with a wall thickness more than twice that of the stock replacement as you can see in the pics. The Pins are Stainless steel with a detent ball to prevent it from falling out. If anyone is interested in a set email me and we'll see what we can work out. I can make do it yourself kits as well if anyone is interested.

That's not a bad idea at all, I imagine that a machine shop could do the same but they would sure charge an arm and a leg. How much would you think that they might cost to make? If you're doing them that would be nice because my hinges aren't in the best of health.

with parts and some really cheap labor, to do each set myself probably around $100 a set plus your hinges as cores. I have one set to put into rotation so I can get a set ready to send when I recieve the cores, and so on. For the do it yourself kits probably around $65, this still involves a lot of labor on my part as turning the bushings isn't a fast process by any means. I looked for off the shelf ones but the flange thickness is not very uniform from hinge to hinge. If there is a big interest I will probably make a jig to hold the hinges prefectly perdenicular to get an even better fit than the current process.
