Default proper oil filter

My 68 corvette 350, which has not been running for awhile, has a fram long style oil filter on it from years ago. I have checked with fram for the correct replacement which they claim now is a PH 30 (which is the short style filter). I want to use the long filter so I compared it to a fram ph 5 which is long. The dimensions between the 2 are identical but the ph5 has an anti drain valve where the ph 30 does not. Looking further for a delco replacement I came up with PF1218, cross referencing that with fram it shows the ph 5. Now I am confused. Should the filter have an anti drain valve in it or not? I dont want to damage my motor with the wrong filter.

In my humble opinion anti drain is important for a side mount filter or remote mount, it keeps the system from draining. Our filters are bottom mounted. In my HO

I am using a Napa Gold 1069. From what I gather, they are they are the same as Wix. I don't think the 1069 has anti-drain back but with the filter on the bottom, it should not be as important as a side mounted filter from my understanding.

They are easy to find if there are Napa stores in your area and appear to be good quality and price.

Check out this link. This kind man dissected a bunch of new filters to see them side by side.

Mobil 1 GM V8 Truck Filter-M1-302-Been using it for many years. Large Case 1 quart capacity versus the Standard GM V8 passenger car filter and I add .5 quart more oil for an oil change bringing the crankcase oil total volume to 5.5 qts instead of 5 qts. The Napa Gold, Wix, K&N (same filter as the Mobil 1 filter) are all good filters. As long as you use the large case truck filter, just about any filter is pretty good, except Fram's which are junk.

Fram & AC Delco are not the same companies they used to be, I used Wix or NAPA which are actually both manufactured by Wix on my vintage racer below

You might have the Fram HP-4.
In my opinion it is a good filter.
Has slightly courser filter media reducing the pressure drop across the filter and reducing the amount of oil being bypassed thereby filtering more of the oil more of the time. Is also larger than standard filter by about 70% or so.
I have opened one up and is comparable in quality to the wix filters I usually use.
O'reilly's carries them.
Standard Fram filters I believe are junk.

Use the truck filter that is much larger for better filtration-1061!
