I finally have some good news to report. AzMotorhead is the winner! Changed out the points, condenser and new rotor and reset dwell and the car runs perfectly now! Not sure if this was a combination of issues that were finally resolved with the points, but I'm glad that it's fixed. The old setup looked almost new, which led me to look into other things. Unfortunately, I bought this car out of an estate sale, so talking to PO about previous work on the car is not possible (short of a Ouija board).

Took the car for about a 30 minute drive and everything was great. Oil pressure runs about 45-50psi until warm then drops to about 35, temp stayed at 180 the entire time, fuel gauge actually worked when I filled it up, voltmeter working correctly, and the clock...well the clock is dead like every other 1970 dash clock. Came home and let the car cool down while I ate dinner and fixed a few interior things. Afterwards, went for a 2 hour sunset cruise and everything performed GREAT!! So stoked to finally get to enjoy this beauty after it sitting sadly in the garage for 5 months!!

Thanks for all of the help guys! I really appreciate it.

Brian

Brian, glad it worked for you. Love the white hard top. Post your info in the 1970 ls5 thread in the general area.

429 SCJ with the 4.30 rear end from the factory...with manual drum brakes! It's a fun car, but a leg workout haha

Was asked to show it at the World of Wheels here in Indy this year:
