77 trans rebuild questions
Hi all,
So the original 350 Hydra-Matic trans in my 77 has sprung more than a few leaks, and its to the point where i know i need to have it pulled and have a new seal kit put on. Since I’m going to have the trans out, i was going to have it rebuilt, but i wasn’t sure if i should make gear changes or anything like that, or if i should just have it rebuilt as is right now. Id rather not buy a brand new trans cause i don’t have that kind of money. Is there any real benefit to making changes to that trans? I don’t plan on racing the car or anything like that, but more oomph is always welcomed. Any comments are much appreciated.
P.S., this will be my first trans rebuild adventure. I plan on pulling it myself since the place i wanna take the car to won’t put in on the lift. they are afraid it will crack the fiberglass body.
