Default 69 J56 Setup

We are finishing the restoration of my 69 L89 Roadster with J56 brakes. Does anyone have any experience with a J56 car? We pieced back together the parts for the J56 brakes. The AIM shows a J56 page with a proportioning valve like the 67/68's and block mounted up near the master cylinder. The AIM page shows "CANCELLED". Someone told me a J56 and J50 standard car should both have the block mounted down on the frame. I'm hoping someone out there can confirm---and possibly send us a picture.

I think we have procured some additional parts that were for 67/68's and won't be needed?

Thanks, Jon 913-488-2592

wouldn`t that be the adjustable proportioning valve? do a search on ebay, the Kelsey Hayes adj valves are on there all the time, the bracket not so much. I am also looking for some second design (5/8 thick) insulators to use as spares for the J-56 caliper equipped car below

'69 Corvettes with J56 did not have an adjustable proportioning valve, only '66-'68.

I found another member who has one and confirmed from his car the correct way to go---it is the same as any other J50 power brake car with the block mounted on the frame. Thanks everyone for your assistance! Jon

I think this is another one where there really isn't any write or wrong. Probably some 69's had it and most didn't.I have read in print that the 69's did not. No body cared back in the day but today we look for a right and wrong. If its going to be judged do what ever the judging body sez it should be, or be prepared for debate.
