Wire Conduit

I personally much prefer clean the wires, and straghten them out and untangle.
much better looking cleaned and detailed, vs. covering up.
Clean and Detailed beats cover up, any day of the week in my book.
the typical termination for plastic split loom cover is electrical tape wrapped around the end of the plastic loom, it keeps the wires inside instead of sliding out the split. good luck !

However- I've never been a fan of split loom plastic conduit...
A some better electronics places (internet too duh...) you can buy PET braided expandable wire loom- then put heat shrink on the ends- makes it look like the factory-OEM really cared about the wiring.
If you have to use tape- I like the cloth tape- unfortunately the good stuff is only available in England- but you can get it via eBay-
AND yes...I'm a wiring snob....

DSCN4427 Here's the PET- a little less than $1/ft and comes in several different sizes-
DSCN4431And the good tape -about $12/roll shipped- can also buy if from your local BMW dealer-about $3/ft!!!
Resistant against diesel, oil, fuel-good to 250°+

To terminate the loom I use electrical tape.
Problem with electrical tape is the adhesive melts off in high temps like those under the hood so it is usually coming off later and I have to trim it or replace it. Some of the conduit ends I just left alone with no tape if the wires were not trying to come out the split.
I suppose a guy could use a dab of silicone glue like ultra black or similar to terminate the ends and that would be permanent and still look decent.
