And if you elect to go with Good Years...consider the OEM tire for 1978 Corvettes which were the GT Radials in the white outline P255/60R15.
The Goodyear Eagle GT II is no longer available in sizes to fit your 78 Corvette. The standard tire, was a P225/70R15, and a P255/60R15 was optional. The only sizes the GT II comes in now, are P275/45R20, P285/50R20 and P305/50R20. Besides being 20" rim size, they are all black sidewall too, not white lettered.
Goodyear doesn't make any tires, in P255/60R15 anymore, and only offer the 225/70 size in a Wrangler all-terrain truck tire.
The white lettered Eagle GT II's, were discontinued quite a few years ago, and even if you found a pair or set, I'd be concerned about using them. They'd have to be to old to consider safe for highway use.
Your only reasonably priced choice, for a P255/60R15 tire, is either the BFG T/A Radial or the Cooper Cobra G/T. If you want a Goodyear tire, or correct reproduction tire, then the Kelsey made Goodyear GT Radial, is your only option.
It is getting pretty lonely out there in the world of RWL tires. I think even the Firestone Indy 500 RWL are long gone at this point. I stumbled across this company, don't know how well it holds up but I am interested when it comes time for me.

Two alternatives to the Cooper Cobras in P255/60R15:
I had a pair of the Avengers installed on the rear of my C3 in 2013. I still have a decent pair of GT II's on the front. But, they are 9 years old now... even with excellent tread depth, they are aging.
I may be incorrect, but I recall Cooper actually manufactures the M/T Sportsman S/T tires.
