By the time your all said and done with shipping, etc... I bet you'd have at least $400/$500 in it.. The repair itself, not sure what this guys considers cheap, but a line bore I think is about $150 which would need to be done once the block is actually "fixed".

Personally I think you could find a block a whole lot cheaper...

Well, it's already a bit rusty so I could certainly see putting a chain through the mains and using it as a boat anchor for something in a 70-plus foot class ship. It could also make an interesting base for a bird bath. I could also see it being used a ballast for a forklift operator. Yep, I can see it as just about anything other than an engine block for a car.

Your best bet would be to look for a car with motor still in it, maybe in the classified ads under rebuildables / parting out. I got lucky a few years ago and bought a 1970 caprice 454/400 12 bolt posi with 80K on the clock, ran like crap but drove it away for 300.00. Dropped the block off at the machine shop and all that needed was to hone the ridge off the cylnders. A crank kit and valve job and I had a fresh 454 for under 1000 bucks :cheers:
