I recently goofed and trashed my factory tachometer, so I bought an auto meter digital tach with a shift light and peak rpm play back. Wasn't so keen on the digital aspect but the shift light and playback features are nice. The question is it seems like I wind a little higher to hit 6000 rpms and I've checked the tach with my timing light, which they were spot on with each other, so do you think the factory tach was off and if so by how much?

Factory tach was most likely inaccurate.
When I checked my tacho for accuracy a few years back it was reading about 1000 rpm low... That solved the mystery as to why I was bending pushrods at only "5800" rpm.
I pulled out the dash and had the tacho and speedo overhauled and calibrated. Both are accurate now.
