I'm already thinking of this winter's upgrade project. I would like to replace the 882 heads so that I might maximize hp for my setup. I am thinking World Prod. Sportman IIs . Cost is a factor.. I will do the work myself.. Any and all suggestions will be appreciated. To date my setup is as follows..
1976 L-48, 4speed, 3:36 rears
Hooker side mounts
Performer intake
Double roller timing chain
Comp cams 268H cam

Check into the new Pro Topline Torkers. They are a nice little head for the money. $ 359.00 a pair bare with hardened ex seats, machined for screw in studs, center bolt or perimeter bolt pattern,67 or 76 cc chambers. There are valve and spring kits available to finish them for around 160 bucks for 2.02- 1.6 valves.
With some port work, they should make some nice power for the money and have a better intake and exhaust port that the World Torkers. They rate them as a 167 runner, but will run with some of the larger heads imo and still maintain good velocity
Out of the box they flow right with the Vortec head but have a much thicker deck making for a heavy duty head
Thanks all.. I quess I have some research to do. If my current heads (the 882s) have 76cc combustion chambers, does that mean that I should stay with the same size? I would like to bring the CR up alittle from its current 8.5 :1 to around 9.5:1, but I think I can accomplish this with the head gaskets.
