I have decided to tackle the Energy Suspension Master Kit that has sat in my garage for 1 year. I completed the drag link, front sway bar today in less than 2 hours. Now the A-arms are quite involved, I've reviewed all the former forum posts and I am involving a machine shop for pressing the bushings out and new ones in, painter for sandblasting/ powdercoating so I'll stress on that long/ extensive project later. This Saturday I'm doing the trans mount and rear spring bolt bushings/ cushions. The original spring is in excellant shape and the car looks level but is 1/4" lower at the rear. I'm still going to use the rear spring. Now I looked for shorter or completely threaded spring bolts and all Ecklers/ MA carries are long bolts for lowering. Can I either get fully threaded bolts from Home Depot and tighten up the spring to get the desired level or put 2 pancake washers under the assembly and use the washer thickness to make up the 1/4" rear drop? I know it's sort of Bubba related but the 1/4" is not visible but to me and is not worth the $300 + dollars for a new spring. WHAT YOU THINK?
Heh I just thought of this...the new poly bushings are 1" higher than the crushed nasty/ foul looking stock rubber ones. That may do it right there.
Your right.. the poly bushings are thicker, and will compress less than the stock rubber. It will raise the rear up to 1" depending on the condition of the rest of your rear suspn. They raised mine a good 3/4" with the stock length bolt provided in the kit. I take it the kit you bought didn't come with bolts. Poly spring bushing kits from E. Suspension are available with bolts, cupped washers, and bushings. But if you can find an automotive (black coating) grade 8 bolt the same length as stock somewhere, it should work fine. You will have to get the front and rear aligned after all that suspn work too. While your at it... :D might as well change out those tired old strut rod bushings back there too. Some new poly will do wonders... :D
Good Luck
