I have seen a repair splice unit for sale someplace - not sure where.
I repaired one of mine by using a small tube for support and super glue. The tube was from the inside of a spray bottle but you could use a wire splice of the correct diameter. Don't crimp it though! Use a razor blade to cut the ends fresh and straight. Then slide them together inside the tube and orient the fibers for best light travel. Then glue so they stay in place. The tube should fit snuggly.
Short of running a new line, nothing you can do will give you back the original intensity of the light. Some WILL be lost in any splice.
