Wheel Stud Replacement Rear
I have heard that you can drill a hole in the heat shield and remove on the car at 3 or 9 o'clock position depending on side; others say remove spindle. I had VolVette rebuild less then 500 miles on trailing arms.
I don't have the special tools to remove and replace, so I went to two different GM dealers and asked about removing spindle to repair. They looked at me like I had a third eye.
I will not drive the car. Need some help here. Central Indiana.
I did it with no Bubba holes added. Although my technique may be qualified by some as Bubba like.
First you jack up the complete rear and secure. Remove offending wheel, brake and brake disc.
Removal is easy just a blow from a decent sized hammer and it will drop back. I would cut at least a 1/2" off of the old stud before tapping it out. Then you can easily remove it.
Rotate so the broken stud is at the 6 o'clock position. Angle the new stud in from the bottom. A few hammer taps and it will pop right in. Use 2 greased washers and a lug nut , the stud will pull in as you tighten it.
I had to take one side of the ebrake off so I had enough roof to work the stud in.
Now if the chrome lug nuts I ordered would arrive. I'd be back on the road
