Light on Dash
I recently bought my son an 82. On the center console below the air/heater bezel there is a round **** with a light in one half of it that comes on when the headlights are on. What is this?
Also i noticed a small green led looking light below the steering column near the manual vacuum control valve. I don't know what this light is either.

I've got an '81 which is very similar. These two items sound like they have been added on by a previous owner. My car doesn't have either. Post some pictures and I'm sure someone here can give you an answer.

The light that comes on with the headlights looks like it is positioned to throw some light on the AC/Heater controls at night.

Both items have been added on by a previous owner.
The light bulb which illuminates the ac control head is located on the underside of the dash above the gauges. This light bulb puts very little illumination on the ac control head. It appears that someone has added another lamp to illuminate that area.
The other red light is some type of an indicator light either for an alarm or some other added accessory.
