Last week I bought a NEW master cylinder after I isolated the front and rear and found there was no rear brake pressure.
Anyway I chucked it in the vise and dissassembled it to check for rust etc.
When I pulled the piston assembly, out with it came a black goo which I have come to the conclusion was a mixture of brake fluid and honing grit.
I wonder how long the seals would have lasted operating in such an abrasive sludge.
This was a brand new Raybestos unit...
So the moral of the story is take nothing for granted.

Yep... Things like that happen all the time.. More often from cheap discount places, but even some GM... dealer stuff is garbage. :bs.. Everyone is trying to make the cheapest parts so they can stay competitive.
