I never even imagined saying something like this...but I think it may be time for me to leave this great hobby. It's not your fault by ANY means. I've enjoyed typing at Forum members daily! Lord knows it's not the car's fault. I'll love the '68 'till the day I croak. But my declining health makes my ability to work on and enjoy working on my 34 year old hot rod more labor and less fun. I'm tired.
I think I'll just get what I can for it and move on. And I know you guy's are all very far away, this isn't a hard sell routine. Fixing old cars just isn't it for me anymore.
Adios.
P.S. What should I ask for a non stock '68 convertible in CA? I know I'll lose money, the question is how much? :U
Robert,
I hear you. Lower back pain in recent years has limited my ability to crawl under cars. Quite frankly it is just not fun anymore. And I have self-debated at times whether to sell or not. I do enjoy driving but not as frequently as in the past.
Fortunately I have been prudent over the years and made some wise investments in non-.com sectors and I can pay to have things repaired. Or as is the case today, friends with more physical agility can help out. I guess in my case it all boils down to something the Wife said when I turned 50 and realized that more time was behind me than lay ahead: The day you sell the Corvette is the day that you turn old. I think about that when the 1979 acts up and I get in a selling mood.
There always is a plan B. Mine is a 1992 or so triple white convertible. More dependable and I believe more comfortable. You may wish to take a Corvette mini-sabbatical: park it and think about matters for a while. Once sold, it is gone. And can you bear the thought of someone else driving "your" Corvette down the street?

Re: Last call? (Robert Holtman)
Really sorry to hear that Bob. You've been around the forum for a long time and I will certainly miss your comments.
Any children interested in keeping the Vette "In the family"?
Price? I don't know but you've got a ZZ4, what looks like a decent paint and AMR TTII'2....looks pretty good to me, but my pics look good on the web too. :D
Just park it on the lawn and grow flowers out of the fender scoops if you have to. If you pass it on you will be sorry. When you get older you will be able to talk about he vette you owned...JUST TALK. If you hang on to it then you will be able to show it too!
You've put a lot of work in that stingray...it's yours...not just a car. OK, I'm done.
Bob I have those days as well,,hang tough and if you really are going to sell the Vette,,you can still come visit! Put a high price on the car,,make someone buy it,,don't give it away.
I remember you from way back when the forum was 2 months or so old, your typing has improved greatly! :D Unlike mine He He!
Robert my take on it is keep the Vette and have a mechanic/ detailer do the mechanicals and keep her clean. You'll miss her after the sale. And even with a new car there is the cost of mechanics (we can't work on new cars etc.) So the way I see it, while a bit more expensive, either way you'll have to apy someone either way. There are 10+ gentleman 60+ years old in the San Diego Corvette owners assosiation. They don't, or can't, touch their Vettes. Depending on your $$$ situation you could do the same. If not call me at (619) 729-3130, I love your car.
David :D
I know how you feel , I just went thru major surgery, and am still quite weak but I won't give it up. I just get someone else to do the things I can't handle anymore.. (or maybe never could  )
Whatever you choose to do, I hope you have enjoyed your Vette and being on the board. We have certainly enjoyed you being here. If there's any way we can talk you out of it, please let us know... That's a nice ride you've got there, I'd hate to see you give it up. :nonod:
You need a vette vacation, maybe a sabbatical, not a divorce!!
I get very achy at times and have wondered what I would do if it got too physically challenging to do the work..... I have the additional problem of not being able to do the work even when I am healthy!!! but i can try!! :) MJ
Do not sell yet...take a break, I will come over and drive away in your wheels (just so you can see how it would feel to lose her). Then in six months I will bring her back so you can enjoy her again. I am willing to provide this service at no cost to you because I am a good guy.
I've got a bad back and bad knees, and when I don't feel up to it I let it sit for a couple of weeks.Take a vacation from it.Don't sell it.When you get the desire to play with it it's still there.
