Reading between the lines, I think you are saying the right side does not latch correctly. Does it miss by much when closing the hood? If you push the corner of the hood down with the palm of your hand, does it latch?

Just got my car back from the paint shop. They removed the hood latches to paint. When I put the latches back on it doesn't want to close on the right side either.The hood closed fine before but now I can't get the right side to latch. Everything seems to line up properly but won't catch even if I apply pressure to the hood.
Hoping someone has advise.

make sure the wires on mechanism are not to tight I had same problem on my 76 I just moved the pass. side latch a tad and it caught good but let me say that I also moved it too much on drivers side and I was locked out of eng compartment for a good minute because I left to much slack and hood release wouldn't work.. I believe your are the lock with hooks try putting a screw driver in between and apply pressure see what happens.
