I've been looking at getting a crate engine to replace my l-48. I remembered I have a 50hp dry (no fuel) NX nitrous kit intended for an EFI motorcycle that I never ended up using. It came with a solenoid intended to spray into the air box and have the fuel injectors automatically add fuel. If I were to say, buy a nitrous carb plate and rejet my mechanical secondaries to be extremely rich, could I run nitrous on the l-48 for kicks until the crate arrives?
Why not just buy a fuel solenoid and the lines to make it a wet kit?
I would think the car would suffer horribly when not on the bottle if you rejetted it that rich. You aren't talking just a little rich, like 20% more fuel I would think. You also would probably have a horrible bog between when you go WOT and when the NO2 kicks in.
I was just hoping I might be able to get a little fun out of the existing nitrous kit without much further investment. I was thinking the secondaries didn't come in until nearly WOT but it looks like they start around 50% throttle so it would bog horribly like you said until the nitrous came in, even if primaries are normal. Oh well, it was worth a thought.
Put the nitrous on a button and hit it AS your foot is on the way down. That'll take the bog from over jetting right out.
50 HP isn't gonna hurt much at all.
sleeper is right...if your engine is in good condition.. start by backing some timing out... hit it with a high octane..and spray 50.... with the rich secondaries.... 50 ain't much....
My powercommander took a dump on one of my Busas, and I sprayed 60hp on the motor map. That's a 4 cylinder. It took a while to hurt it. When I took the pistons out, the rings fell off on the floor, but the pistons were fine..
