I have an aftermarket distributor and I need to adjust the vacuum can a little to stop some part throttle/midrange spark knock. Which way do I turn the adjustment (small allen wrench through the vacuum port) to decrease advance? Of course, the dizzy had no paperwork with it. Car runs great otherwise.

The only other change I made was to mechanically limit the degrees of advance and only used the adjustment for the vacuum required.
I found that 15 degrees of advance was about all I could do, without surging at cruise speed. I limited the advance to that amount by putting a "restriction" on the advance shaft.
After adjusting, 12 inches of vacuum seemed to be the best.
