Default Can this be fixed???

See picture:

T-56 tranny

If it can be repaired, I might have just found myself a "new" transmission.

I have no idea. But it's a good price if it can be repaired simply.

Easy for a good welder
I had a big crack in the tailpiece of my ZF on top, next to the shifter straight through the 2 bolt holes.

With the TIG will be easy to well that but with a blowtorch set-up for aluminum will also work. Guessing that it only needs welding.

So, do you all think that I should risk buying it? It came out of a 98 LS1 Camaro.

I'm trying to find out more information. :smash:

If the price is right and the damage shown is the ONLY thing wrong with it, I'd say go for it!
I have no doubt that the small crack/dent can be easily repaired. My guess would be that a welding shop with the proper equipment and experience would fix it for less than $50. If they are able to weld up cast aluminum lawn mower engine blocks, they should have no problem with this small job.

Yup, It looks non critical with no high pressure to deal with. I say to sand it and epoxy it with anything compatible. JB Weld is a good candidate. Don't laugh ! I used it in the Baja 500 to fix a similar problem. And after about 50 more races, it still is holding. No need to remove and weld with the TIG.

Well, the price is currently $400. I'm thinking about it...we'll see. I'm also interested in a rebuilt AC compressor that I found...so, I think I'd rather have AC before I get my extra two speeds...

I'll show y'all the extra pics when I get them.
