Default A/C ???

My 77 used to have a/c but a previous owner removed the compressor, all brackets & hoses. Would I be better off getting oem or use something like the Vintage air universal?

Probably OEM, now sometime in '77 they switched from A6 compressor and VIR system to R4 compressor and CCOT system. So that will make a difference in what parts are needed to restore it. I'm not an AC expert by a long shot. Especially if it's not the same as my '78's CCOT system which I just took a crash course in and repaired.

I would try seeing if vintage air would break up a kit...for compressor mounting...the evap and cond are both in place, I presume....flush them both very well....obviously a new drier/receiver and expansion valve/oriface tube...
I would want a later model Oriental version of an A6 axial compressor...
they are aluminum, and lined with steel, and smaller, lighter, and certainly a LOT better than the R4 compressors of later sharks...
