Just did a clutch job. Mine had a Sachs in it went with a Hays, wasn't impressed. If I did it again I would consider a Spec. Just my thoughts

While not a BB, I've had a Sachs clutch in mine for about a year and a half. It's been to the dragstrip, has done a lot of burnouts and hard launches and it's now on the workbench, because the engine got pulled and it's still got some life left to it.

I was happy with how it worked and with a stock engine, I think that it will do fine, good pedal feel, good grab, but if you are running or planning to run a modified engine or really flog your C3 hard, then I'd recommend going with a street/strip or race clutch from McLeod or Centerforce (for $348, I'm going with the Centerforce II for my '74).

I'm totally sold on Sachs 11 inch clutches for high performance use. Light pedal and many years of full on launches

It was short lived Throwout Bearing started making noise out it came. I ordered a Hays just the way it was riveted looked like crap. I read a article on Spec brand and it got me second guessing my choice. Do your own research there are plenty out there.

I've had one behind my 427/468 and now a 540 for the short time I've had it running. Rated at 650 HP and with a relatively light pedal. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

The Hayes set-up I had before it threw of a couple of heavy washers off the pressure plate. The second one went half way through the bell housing. So, no more Hayes and a Lakewood now.

I have the sachs 11 inch. You have to have the 11 inch 168 tooth flywheel and matching starter motor.

As to a bell housing. I don't have a clue on stock stuff because I use blow proof bell housings

Mine is an 11" set-up (168 tooth flywheel). The bellhousing part number ends in 621. I bought it through Keisler several years before their financial problems and they advertised it with a 650HP rating.

Sachs are more than up to the task.

As for factory type bells, the xxx403 (anybody need one?) fits with the 10.4"/153 tooth, while the xxx621 fits with the 11"/168 tooth setup. That said, if you're application includes high-perf/HD abuse, get a genuine SFI certified clutch setup and scattershield w/engine plate, and pick somewhere else to save a few bucks. Seriously.

And, FWIW, if your personal driving preferences happen to put you nearer to the AX/RR corner of the performance envelope, I highly suggest no more than a 15-20# flywheel. IMHO the reward for learning how to drive more proficiently with a lighter flywheel is well worth the extra effort. My $.02

The numbers should be opposite the fork side.
