Default Finding Corvettes is hard!

Firstly, greetings to all forum members! I've been lurking for a while and just recently joined. I'm mildly concerned about the amount of time I may start wasting here, but it looks like fun nonetheless. :)

So after a lengthy wait, I'm in the market for my first Corvette now! I was rather excited until I realized how difficult it was going to be to find the car I want. Up here in British Columbia, Canada, I simply cannot find a '68-'72 in reasonable condition for less than $27,000! According to the Corvette Price Calculator, a '71 in "good condition" should cost around $12,000. I realize that the market is much different up here, but not so much different that the price of a similar car would be more than doubled! I'd say about $17,000 is my limit, and I think that should fetch me a reasonably good chrome-bumpered 'Vette. Should.

Anyway, to all the other Canadians around here: How did you find your 'Vettes? I check the Buy & Sell religiously, not to mention eBay Canada, Auto Trader, Corvette Club forums, etc. etc. Is there some trick that I'm missing? :(

Thanks in advance for the help!

Well the thing is...up here in Canada there's not a whole lot of selection. Is there a special reason it has to be '68-'72?

Vetticus, welcome to the Forum.

You should be able to get a decent Vette for less than $27,000! (even in Vancouver). I found mine at AutoTrader.ca.

I would definitely love a big block, but it's hard enough finding a chrome-bumpered 'Vette with a mouse! I'll definitely be keeping my eyes peeled, though.

Thanks for the help and the warm welcome! :)

There are quite a few around here but many of the frames are rotten and car is pieced together by Bubba. For that price I would buy a C2 (27k cdn). Ppl. can ask whatever they want, and you have a right to offer what you think is fair. If you would like any help to find some down east here let me know and a we can keep an eye out for you. I do know where there are 2 body off '65 verts for sale, resto. in process.

inferno, the conversion rate is far too ridiculous for that! :mad ($17K CDN, by the way.) I can see that there are plenty of nice 'Vettes for sale down there, though. It's pretty discouraging! Oh well -- I'm sure the right one will come along eventually.

gdh, thanks for the offer! Certainly, if you see any nice '68-'72 'Vettes for sale down there, I would love to know!

You've been sucked into the CorvetteForum Zone. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile. :p:

Look on the '70 Registry website. There are a few member cars listed for sale at the moment. http://corvetteforum.net/c3/1970registry/forsale.html I also have links to several for sale and pricing guides on my webpage: http://www.annapolis.net/members/jul...Buy&Price.html

Good Luck Shark Hunting! :yesnod:
