My 73 ;(generic 350) is leaking around the water temp sensor. I put a new one on with teflon tape. Hard to tighten with headers in place.
Can you over tighten?
Is there a magic sealant to use????
Sam
They are a pipe (tapered) thread so in theory the more you turn, the tighter they get, you can strip them but it should seal way before that.
Personally, I use Permatex hi-temp thread sealer on most of these, acts as a lubricant to help it tighten easier and then acts as a bit of a thread sealer while still allowing a good ground path.
I use Teflon but only on the first two threads. Teflon is not a sealant, it is a lubricant designed to make the threads seat properly. Over applying Teflon can create a sender to not make correct ground.
