Default Lt1 ?

I have what I have been told is an LT 1 engine from late 60's to early 70's.
I intend to sell it but want to advertise it correctly. the engines oral history states it is a corvette lt1. casting #indicate 300hp 350 cu.in engine. 4 bolt main verified. cast iron crankshaft. 4 bbl intake. pistons are flat top. some #'s you say??? ok crankshaft 3932442 block 3932386 heads are in storage right now but they have intake valves that are smaller than 202's.s intake in storage and thought to be cast iron. does not sound like LT1 with those pistons, and the tappets look to be hydraulic. I am familiar with hydraulic but don't know what a solid tappet looks like.
stamped in front rh side of engine block v0928HN flint sept 28. hn code for 350 cid engine says 300 hp 4bbl lt1 4. it also has corvette valve covers. (it must be real toto, the valve covers say corvette) any help as to what I may have here? some sites state LT1 and other state full size car. I do not recall partial vin on stamp pad, but will look tomorrow if possible. I am having the block hot tanked. It appears to have been rebuilt, but quick look shows no boring, but crank may have at least one journal turned. Thanks again deputyb

Date codes and such arent my thing but from the sounds of it its not an LT1. Doubt it was and someone took the crank solids out etc etc.

A solid lifter does not have a plunger inside that you can push down.

Sorry you got rooked

Youre not alone, almost every old 350 for sale out there is supposedly a "corvette" motor lol.

All LT-1's had the following....
- Forged Crankshaft (None with cast)
- 2.02 intake valves
- Aluminum high rise intake (Winters Foundry)
- Holley Carb.
- All had forged pistons ('70 with dome - '71-'72 flat top)
- Solid lifter cam

No LT-! engine carried an HN code, nor does any of the hardware you've described sound like other than a base engine 300HP.

Post the casting number and casting date of the block.

HN indicates a 65 327/375hp Corvette engine or a 69 350/300 GM generic passenger car engine. I agree with Mike: lean toward the 69 350/300.

Well, I did not get rooked. Old age and suspicion win again.
I can now attempt to sell a 69 300 hp 350 c.i.d. block. The previous owner owed a debt and this engine (non running) is how he chose to pay it. He will never believe I did not 'take' his beloved corvette LT1 but we all know better as your answers back up my research on this. It still is something, better than nothing, and 300 hp small block is gravy compared to what I could have ended up with. He had even had the engine rebuilt and believed it was 'gold'. Thanks guys for your time. deputyb
