Default Ford Focus Dual Electric Fan Problem

I bought an 05-07 Ford Focus Fan top install in my 1981, but I am having an issue with figuring out how to make it fit correctly. I am running into a problem with the upper control arms being in the way.

Has anyone else had this issue? Is the 05-07 fan a different size than the older focus fan?

Any help is appreciated!

You'll have to notch the shroud to clear the upper control arm. For whatever it's worth, the upper control arms have been the most difficult area of my LS swap. If it's not the the water pump issues it was the power steering pump pulley and very shortly it's going to be the Ford Focus fan shroud I presume. There is a guy at the OTHER blog with fluent information on the Focus fan swap. Keep the fans mounted as high as possible to the radiator. Mod from there. The lower un-shrouded area of the radiator should receive air from the chin spoiler, or that is the game plan.

My older Focus (2000) fans were a tight fit, but weren't wider than the radiator.

All 81s had a factory auxillary electric fan. Why run the Ford unit?

Ah. Does anyone happen to have pics of this? Patro46, can you shoot me a PM with the guy at the 'other' site? Id like to see more before I start cutting into this.
