Default Power Window motors... Willcox vs Zip vs...

Looking for new power windows for the 81 Corvette.

Willcox - 80 bucks a side
Zip - 100 bucks a side

Anyone have experience with these motors? Willcox is 20 bucks cheaper than anywhere else I can find (including Ebay and Amazon) and which makes me question the quality vs other options. Though I am also torn because Willcox isn't know for selling low quality parts and their prices are good.

I searched around and didn't find any threads with opinions on specific offerings from vendors.

Thanks,
Douglas

I think if you compare maybe the 3 largest boys on the block, you will find at the end of your WANT list, the total will be close, although various items might be a little higher or lower. So then you need to 1) look for a sale, free shipping etc. or 2) go with the one that has served you well before. And even in that respect, they are close. I guess we are lucky and don't realize it, there are so many companies trying to sell us parts for our cars and they car about doing it well.

I actually spent a bunch of time going between Willcox, Zip, Ecklers and others comparing prices/availability on products and put them all in a spreadsheet. However, right now I am looking just at the power window motors as I need them sooner over than when it's convenient.

Both Willcox and Zip are having sales as we speak. Check out their recent posts.

Yeah, Zip was 10% off with free shipping
Willcox was 10% off, or free shipping over 100, or 15% if I spent enough (no problem there...). That was the weekend sale

I am mostly concerned about the quality of the motors

Those are reproduction motors and are not being made by GM so it is a gamble. I rebuilt my factory motors and they work great

Willcox sells Reman'ed ones. Both Zip and Willcox offer the new ones.

They appear to be different as Willcox motors are silver and the Zip ones are painted black.

For my driver side, the original motor is gone and a remanned one is in place... of questionable quality. Passenger side, not really sure, but I think might be the original GM.

I would go with a reman, myself. Any reputable vendor, best price, lowest shipping. I'll bet the new ones and made in China or Korea. I went to Advance Auto Parts one Sunday to do a quick brake caliper change and they tried to sell me one made in Korea. I asked the guy at the desk if he would put his wife and kids in a car with one of those and drive them around. He didn't answer, just closed the box and went to put it back.
Window motor won't kill you if it fails, but.... IMHO.

Just curious. Did you rebuild them yourself or did you send them to someone? If you did yourself, How? if you sent out, Who?
