In my rebuild I replaced all of the vacuum lines and valves. The fitting I have on my stock manifold has a fitting that looks to be around 3/8 and the hose that comes from the filter (this line feeds the vacuum tank) is probably 1/4 at most and no way a 1/4 line will fit on the manifold. I used a piece of 3/8 line that is nice and tight on the manifold fitting however it needs a clamp where it attaches to the filter.
Do I have the wrong fitting in the manifold or is there an adapter I am missing? or do I need to somehow force the smaller line onto the manifold fitting?
I have that already in place. After that piece and towards the engine is a plastic filter. It is the line between the filter and the manifold that is the issue.
if this is the filter you are referring to it goes directly to the manifold and the other end goes to a spitter which then has one line going to the tank and the other line to the vacuum system
Intake manifold threaded fitting I presume you are refering to?
It is threaded into the rear of the intake manifold in front of the distributor?
If so they were placed on the cars based on the accessories added.
For example my '68 BB has PB so I have a 3 nipple fitting.
I have the power brake booster connected to one orifice, headlamp vac line to another and I chose to run full manifold vac to the third orifice.
All my carb ports are capped except pvc port.
If you car was a base model w/ no options then a single orifice or maybe a double was installed at flint.
Hope this helps a double will allow you to run full manifold vac

Yes that is the filter. It is a 70 LT-1 so it has a single outlet fitting out of the manifold behind the carb and in front of the distributor this is a 3/8 fitting and as you can see in he picture the filter is much smaller.
