Recommended Source for the Interior Rear Quarter Panels
I've haven't had much luck with most of the restoration parts I've purchased for the interior so I'm looking for some advice. I need to replace the rear quarter panels in my '69, the ones on either side directly behind the doors. Has anyone else bought some, what kind of luck did you have with them, and did they fit well? Also since my interior is black, I thought I'd seen reduced prices for "black only" parts as opposed to having the choice of other interior colors. Has anyone else seen those advertizements?

petty44 bought some but I forgot where he got them. I'll ask him or you can e-mail him. They fit perfect and looked great......how do I know??????.......I help install them.

Several years ago I bought a set of reproductions. They were so bad I never put them on the car. EC Products. There are still in the box in the garage. The orgional ones on the car were vinyl covered - 1969. Would love to find a new or used. Let me also know what you come across,

I've heard very good things about Al Knotch interior parts. I bought most of my parts from Eklers and Mid America. I wasn't very happy with parts from either company. I'm not bashing these vendors, but I paid top dollar for the parts and thought they could have been better. Happy hunting. :conehead :chevy
Re: Recommended Source for the Interior Rear Quarter Panels (A78Corvette)
The EC Product repro's are bad. They're very thick when compared to the originals. Also, they're stamped out of one thick chunk of plastic with an attempt at a vinyl "grain" look. Originals are thinner, and are actually vinyl covered. I've never seen a correct repro. I've replaced both of the ones in my 69 because the upper "J" bends were broken. I bought better ones at flea markets. Chuck

I bought a set for my 77 from corvette america. And they were horrible.I bought a set of used ones from contemporary corvette that were almost perfect.
Re: Recommended Source for the Interior Rear Quarter Panels (theandies)
theandies,
Yours was the only positive comment about a restoration product. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one being "picked on" by the vendors. If you can contact petty44 I'll hold off until I hear from either you or petty44. Looks like a search in the used parts stores is in order.

I e-mailed him on this topic and usually talk to him on the phone a least once a week so if he dosen't reply soon please don't give up on us yet. BTW My car didn't even have these parts when I bought it. I have a priority list and anything that is not drivetrain related is pretty low on the list right now.

I hear ya about the drive train. My car had an engine, but no brakes, and very little clutch, and no suspension. The doors didn't open and the windows were falling out of the doors. It's taken 5 years to get to a point where I'm thinking about replacing these panels. The old ones are being held in with duct tape. I have some radiator work to do then maybe a paint job and interior. It's fun, alot of work, but fun.
A great big THANK YOU for the help. I'll watch for a post or email.

Re: Recommended Source for the Interior Rear Quarter Panels (WATTAC)
I have had good and bad luck with Corvette America parts. One door panel needed serious alteration to get it right the other fit like a glove. (What I did on the door panel was removed plastic from the back and cut groves to get the panel to fit flush. Took a lot of work.) Pillar posts also seem a little thick and stiff but I intend to try a similar method. (These parts were supposed to be first quality.)
Look into the "not quite perfect stuff" at Corvette America's website. The parts are returnable and you may get lucky. I just ordered a dash pad from there and will see how it fits but it looks fine. I figured that might as well pay half price for junk that doesn't fit! :D
Re: Recommended Source for the Interior Rear Quarter Panels (WATTAC)
andy, I got mine from ZIP products last october, they were medium saddle in color and as John "aka" theandies said they did fit perfect and look great, I know how you feel about interior parts :smash: I paid $199.00 for both of them :cry but it was worth it, the ones that were on it were busted, I hope this helps  butch "aka" Petty44
