I would shop around and try to find a shop that actually deals with muscle cars, antiques, etc..
I imagine no one at Merchants has ever seen a 1973 Corvette and know even less about aligning them.
FYI - My buddy recently took his newly bought 1978 Corvette to one of the national chain auto stores for a State Inspection. They wanted to fail it because it only had one leaf spring in the rear end. Obviously the other one had fallen out.

Is "Merchant's" a reputable place to have an alignment done?..they have the right lift for my '73 vette but never used them
any suggestions?
Cheers
I would have to agree with other folks here is get a shop that deals with older cars. I had the same problem when I was looking for a alignment shop for my 77 Vette, first thing they would say, we don't work on these old Vettes. A light bulb went off and I had alignment done on my 56 Chevy 2dr several years ago and the place has been in business since 1949. They did the alignment to specs with the new shims I provided and did it for $120. I let go of the steering wheel and it drives nice and straight!
I go to our one Merchant's, but they have guys that know old cars and the one mechanic has an old 1930's Ford. You need to shop around for someone knowledgeable. I was going to a Mason's and did not know that they let go their 50ish....read that experienced, alignment person. They aligned the rear and left out 1/8" of my special stainless steel shims, and left the trailing arm bolt loose. I took it back once for them to correct the crooked steering wheel, which they fixed. So they looked at it twice, before I found out why my rear end was squirrelly! Lou.
Got mine done at Big O Tires, everything was done perfect
Steering wheel was straight and tracked great, $89.00 with a 6 month warranty.
I have 17 inch rims in front 18's in rear.
