Default iPod/iPhone mount on visor, or ….

Was looking around for a place to mount an iPod touch in my car and decided that the passenger side visor would be a pretty cool place.

Don't want to destroy my original visor so I'm going to get a couple of the chrome mounting brackets and see what I can put together.

Am curious as to what creative solutions any of you folks have come up with ????

Also am looking at Harry's LapTimer and any experiences with that are appreciated. My 5th Gen iPod needs a GPS adjunct to run but thought I would play with video first.

What are you using it for? If you're only using it for music and/or phone you could get a bluetooth capable head unit and not have to mount it at all.

Want video coupled with position data. Have you looked at the app I mentioned? It shows a g-circle and course data superimposed on the video.

The visor mount has to allow the iPod to slide into place near the rear view mirror so I can get a look down the centerline of the car. Have a couple of ideas I am playing with.

Already have an iPod classic mounted under my console by the ashtray. I guess I wll have to put an Apple decal on the car somewhere

I haven't seen the app but I see where you're going. That sounds like a custom mount to be sure. I also have a couple of I-devices in the car, one just for music and the other connected via Bluetooth for phone calls and engine data. Ain't technology great?

Default update

What I ended up doing was taking some thin acrylic sheet that I had, heating it to the shapes in the picture and inserting it between my windshield trim and frame. Stiffened it up a bit with this and that
and it works pretty well. Video is almost right down the centerline of the car and I can easily reach it while buckled into the drivers seat..

Pretty easy and anybody with an iPod or iPhone can take video

Clever idea! Now the hard part; getting 12v to it. I was thinking of mounting an 12v/USB socket in the driver side window speaker compartment.

One could always double up functionality by using the rearward camera. Wouldn't need a rear view mirror, eh?

Power cord is a problem. I also need to put a GPS module somewhere out of sight.

I am really still waffling on the idea to put a screen in or not-

Back-up camera? I could put it behind my plate....

Then there is this train of thought-
