While restoring my 69...engine is out & working on front suspension...would like to get muncie checked out. It has been totally fine EXCEPT falls out of fourth get when not under load. Thus. If shifting and into the gas-no prob. When cruising, will just fall out and sound like grinding. Thenjust have to pull all way out of gear then clutch back in.
Let me know thoughts AND if anyone in upper Illinois. Thanks!
Ron
Coming out of gear is typically due to a worn slider. If the engagement teeth on the input shaft are passable (4th gear), get a complete rebuild with bearings, seals, synchros and new torque lock sliders (the sliders will be extra).
Hope someone local can help you on a shop, but if you want to rebuild on your own, a press and input nut wrench are the only special tools you'll need.

Dave was the best! Passed away a couple years ago. Didn't you buy the Autogear Supercase M22 Rockcrusher from me?
.
Sorry to hear about him.
Yes I did buy that M22 from you, and it is still working great! Absolutely no issues, but it needs one more gear! . Obviously he knew how to build a good Muncie.
Get in touch with Norm at Westech Auto over in Silver Lake Wi about 40 min drive or so. He worked on mine and its fine many years later. He is also a good guy.
They can do just about anything its a full dyno machine shop old school and new hot rods.
I used to line in Grays Lake not to far from you.
