Hey guys, I wanted to show off my shift plate that I built for my 78.
The center sections of the old plate (inside the silver trim) was gutted with a razor knife. I then built this plate to fit into the silver trim area. I left just enough area to bolt the plate onto. I then had a local sign company wrap it to closely match the rest of the interior (not as close as I would like). I am overall pretty happy with how it turned out. What do you think?
That looks very good. I put the switches all the way down to the rear of the shifter and used a Lokar round mount ring and boot, and kept the lighter as a power tap. I used a combination primer and color paint from Duplicolor IIRC, matches as well as yours does. Good job there, very clean looking, be proud of it. What shifter did you use? I used the MGW.

Thanks,
You should post up a pic of yours please, I would like to see it. I wanted a power tap but also wanted a clean look. The lighter will go in between the two seats in the vertical section of the floor pan. I went with the PRO 5.0 shifter as it had the very good reviews and the trans came with it.
as for the switches, I wanted them below the shifter but there was just no room with that big shifter bracket.
Mike, I really wanted it to look stock like yours. However, that 5.0 shifter with the stop ring hampered my chances of that. I really like how yours looks
I went for the stock look also. I fabbed an offset shifter mount and my son cut the plate and made the pattern decal at his shop. The short shifter is a Hurst part that is intended for a Mustang IIRC.

I do have 1 question.. did you move your heat/ ac controls? Don't see it.

I removed the AC and do not have the heater hoses hooked up. I just wire tied them below the new console. I didnt want them to be up there and useless. I have it set on defrost and will wire in a hidden fan switch in case I need the defrost at night. This car is really just a weekend car.

Nice but I would like to hear how the T56 fit in the 78 corvette. Did you find a kit to install or buy parts and make it fit.
