Default Heat Riser Gasket or no Gasket ?

Hey all,

Factory assembly manual a little vague on this. With the doughnut and spacer is the 3 hole heat rider flange gasket helpful, needed or what?

Im assuming you mean between the heat riser and the manifold. I suppose whether or not its needed is debateable, especially on a new manifold and new heat riser but Id certianly advise that you use it.

My '71 has a flange gasket and I just installed a new exhaust system on mine this week. The original factory flange gasket was really imbedded on the manifold and heat riser. I had to give it a good cleaning so the gasket would make a good seal.

Thanks off to Auto-zone tomorrow I assume they would have something like this as that gasket was probably used on Chevelles and other GM cars over that time period....Plan was to work on it this weekend and not wait for mail order part...
