I have a buddy that is wanting to sell his 1980 vette. I believe it is a hardtop and I know it has a V8 in it. It is also an automatic. I don't know if it is any special trim line or not. It has been restored by his father-in-law that just passed away. He needs to sell it to have money to go back to school in the fall. About how much should he ask for it and what kinda performance slips did those car's carry (0-60 and 1/4 mile)?

Re: 1980 Vette (88'Cubka)
if completly stock. l48 engine = 180 hp l82 = 185 (little higher compression)
maybe 15-16 second quarter. mine isn't fast at all. the 88 is a 12.5 car and pulls buses on the 80 hehe
good cruiser though
Careful with that statement. There may be a one or two 1980's out there that will take that challange :D
The 1980 Corvette is an improvement on all the previous years designs. There were a lot of fixes put into place on the '80. It is also the last year before computer controls. But remember it is a 22 year old car.
So if you are decent with your automotive skills, go ahead and get that car. You will enjoy it.
As far as prices, they vary greatly with the condition. Excellent condition cars can go as high as 13-14k, with 10-11k for good, 8-9k for average and 6-8k for poor condition.
1/4 times for a stock will be mid 15 seconds.
Thanks guys, that helps alot. His late father-in-law bought the car for 2k about 3 years ago and the car looks showroom new. From what i understand it also runs GREAT. he was wanting about 5 grand for it.
