I saw an article somewhere about running the car out of gas so to see whats in the bottom of the gas tank.
Mine is a 75 with fuel bladder, in the forty years i have be gassing it i am pretty sure some crap is in there also, since the fuel re-stricter for the unleaded was removed long time ago i can see most everything in there.
No, i am not pulling the tank as i am not having any problems, just searching for info about emptying the bladder to look in there.
I also have a '75. I removed the tank to replace the fuel lines etc (still working on it). The tank has sat full since 1992. I siphoned all of the fuel out of it and surprisingly there was very little sediment in the bottom of the tank. I don't know that you will be able to see too well through the filler hole. I removed the sending unit from mine but that was easy with the tank removed.

Probably right, will just leave it alone as i don't plan on removing it.
Do you have any pics of the inside since you removed the cover? Would like to see in contents of the tank..
