Default Parking Brake handle removal

I have a 72 coupe. Can anybody help me with how to remove the handle? I'm trying to install a new rear console and it has a plastic slide which slides as you move the parking brake handle as well. Any advice would be geatly appreciated!
Thanks!!

I don't know why you want to remove the handle. The plastic sliding piece has a cut on one side so it can fit over/around the handle. Perhaps if you remove the plastic slide piece things will work out.

Not all of them. I just asked this same question on General. I just got a new slider from Corvette Central and mine wasn't cut. I found a small notch on the back side and cut it there.

I just installed a new slider on my '71. You should be able to remove the four side mount screws and the rear bolt. Then you can lift it up and slide the console up and back to remove it.

With the brake handle pulled up, I installed the new slider by partially putting it in the console leaving the slider opening in front of the console. After I slid the slider over the handle, I was able to move the console forward and put it in place. I was able to do this without cutting the new slider, maybe because it was a warm day in Florida. I read where some guys used a heat gut to soften the slider.

I was trying to avoid cutting the new slider I purchased. It appears that the handle should come off but I dont really see any way possible to remove it without a major ordeal.

I should also let you know I'm installing a brand new console with slider as my car was taken apart years ago. Not sure if that matters but thought I would mention it.

I didnt try to force the slider over the handle. I didnt think that would work out to well

I didn't think so either, but the new one I bought from ZIP went over the handle with no issues. I was more concerned about being careful not to damage my original console.
