Would anyone know exactly what this wire/connector goes to? It is on my 1982 Crossfire which - despite the random wire - runs flawlessly, and everything n the vehicle works like showroom new; but, there doesn't seem to be a mate to this connector anywhere to be found. Perhaps it is a vestigial wire from it's sister, non-Crossfire `81 that isn't intended to be used, but seems odd. My unfounded theory is, since the other wire on the same black module goes to the capacitor on the manifold, is that it has something to do with radio noise suppression - and now that I think about it, I have noticed radio noise since my mechanic replaced the plugs this Spring - but seems odd to not have a mate anywhere nearby.

It is the lead to the tach filter. Seems like there may be an extra plug in there that is not used.

Thanks. Are you thinking my car is 'tach filterless' so the lead is unused? The word "filter" in reference to electronics
Is a little confusing for me.
An electronic filter keeps unwanted frequency from messing things up. You'll see the tach needle jump around when you hit the blinker or a hum through the speakers.
I'm not sure what that wire is but I'll check my 82 to see if I see anything.
I have that same connector on my 82, and it is also not connected to anything. It never has been as far as I know. I think it could be used to hook up an underhood tachometer to use during tuning.

Thanks very much. I'll be more at ease now. I appreciate your checking. This forum is awesome and it's guys like you that make it that way. I'll catch you on the flip-flop if I can ever help with a question.
