well it is time to rebuild my trans and i am doing it myself... I have never done it before and I am looking for a little advice if you guys could give me some. I got a video that is pretty good from 5speeds.com. Any problems and or solutions anyone has come across??? And one more thing, I live in Atlanta GA and I don't know a good place to get a rebuild kid with out ordering a over priced one from Eckl...... don't want to trash vendors :chevy
Let me know if you have any problems with any of these. I made a CD set with all the video, and set them to another forum member. If that other forum member is through with them, then they could send the CD's to you. It's been awhile, so if you want I could look up and see who I sent them to and ask for them back, or to have them send them to you.
I am that other forum member. I had meant to send those back to you a long time ago. I managed to reformat the files and make it all fit on 2 cds. If you want the originals back or a copy on 2 cds let me know. Cory if you want the video on cds let me know and i will send it to you.

Go back there, they have a rebuild kit availble for your transmission and they seem to know what they are talking about. I e-mailed the a whild back for the correct tranny rebuild kit and they asked for casting numbers and stuff before they would give me a part number for the kit. That gave me confidence that they know what they are doing. There are different diameter countershafts so you have to be careful. I am going to order my rebuild kit from them when I get to rebuilding mine (my frontend rebuild took over on the priority list last month    ).
Let us know how it goes.
John
It is not that bad at all. Go back to 5speeds and get the kit. Once you ahve done it it becomes real easy. I have done a few now and they are not bad to do.
4 speeds are a piece of cake. Take your time, follow the directions and you'll be fine. Any special tools (like snap ring pliers?) you need will be available for rent or not to expensive to buy.
Justin, Thanks for stepping in. Feel free to distribute them as you like. I've still got my original tapes, so I don't need them back. I suppose the best thing for me to do is transfer everything to a VHS tape...hehe...like you wanted in the first place. :)
Cory, I have the front bearing nut wrench that I can ship to you...just pay the postage and you can borrow it. It's a 1-5/8" thin fork open end wrench...a standard wrench is too thick to fit the nut cause the nut flats are to the inside of the case. And, using pliers will tear up the bearing surface the outside of the nut. You COULD grind down a wrench to fit, but you can borrow mine if you want.
