You need to check out www.vortecproperformance.com.

You can not build a GOOD 550+hp engine as cheap as he sells them. His stuff is built right.. You can get a 570hp 468 from him for less then $6k shipped..

By the time you spend $1500 on your bottom end, $2500 for heads, another $1000 for machine work and assembly, plus all of the valve train stuff, fasteners, gaskets, intake etc etc.. You would be way over VPs engine cost and hoping it makes the same power.

All of Marks engines are broken in, Dyno tested and ready to run...no hassle, no worries.. Stick it in and haul ***.

You get what you pay for, especially with heads.

http://www.jegs.com/i/AFR-Airflow-Re...27#moreDetails

These flow virtually identical @ .500 lift to the Patriot/Promaxx with a 55CC smaller intake port. Increased port velocity = improved throttle response and better bottom end/midrange. We worth the extra cost for a quality CNC head that likely outperforms the bigger head at the RPM you use 95% of the time especially if you decide to keep 4" stroke. These are what Chris Straub was pointing you toward.

After I put in my current big bore/stroke small block (and hopefully before I blow that one up ) I plan on going the opposite direction with a big block. I want to build a screamer 427, Probably a more expensive route to go, but hey, it's only money.

Keep posting what you end up doing. Always like to see these engine build threads.

Prices are not too shabby. I wonder what he puts in them? Aluminum heads? Roller cam?

The 570hp HP engines are HYD flat tappet I believe. The heads are ported 049 or 781 oval ports with stainless 2.19 valves.. It's a very well scienced out combo..

There is also a 620hp solid flat tappet 468 if you want more power and more maintenance.

I have the 496" 650/670 engine, it is HYD roller and it's been a great engine.. I've had it 5 years, 13k miles and about 70 passes down the drag strip..

I'd definitely buy from him again.
