I have to get an a/c evaporator box for my 79 corvette. There are a few for sale on e-bay, but none I can find that specifically say they are for a 79. Can I use one from an earlier (or later) model C3? I can replace/install any hardware.
My $.02 I would make sure I got the correct part, even if it cost a little more. FOr the amount of work and time and freon to go into this project, I would hate to give that up a second time for $50 or so. I'm a cheap guy, but this isn't the place to save a few bucks. IMHO.

I agree about getting the correct pert, but I'm not trying to save a few bucks, I'm going to E-bay because I cannot find a vendor that sells the boxes. Seal kits, condensers, relays, and such they sell, but not the box itself. I looked on the Dr. Rebuild site and wasn't able to find one.
There are several for sale on e-bay ranging in price from $250 - $40. All of them have been removed from earlier C3s (71, 72, 74, 77), and I just wanted to know whether the fiberglass box will work on my 79. They look the same...
Looks like the 74-82 used the same box according to the listing. Good luck.
I noticed that and was wondering if that's true about the blower side of the box as well. At $325 though, I think I'll wait for something on e-bay. Thanks again for the info.
