Bumpers?
I already know the answer to this but... Will a 74 style front and rear bumper fit my 76?
I need new bumpers but I cant stand those nasty little black bumpettes.
Is there anything special I need to do to mount them or make them fit?

The 74 bumpers will not fit onto a 75 or later due to the lack of "rubber" bumper pads.
The 74 rear bumper is split in the middle and has a smooth finish, plus the support frame is different, though it won't interfere with installing a 75 onto a 74 vette, the reverse is not true, putting a 74 onto a 75 or later causes problems where the "rubber" bumper pads stick out.
The 75 bumper will mate right up to your 76 and the 75 is a solid bumper with two "rubber" looking bumper pads sticking out where the supports contact the bumper just like your 76. However, the 76 rear bumper has a different "Corvette" logo as a single piece, while the 75 has seperate letters with the 75 bumper having built-n dimples where the letters go.
If you absolutely do not like the bumperettes then you will need to take a hack-saw to the reinforcements that stick out...not something that I would recommend. Another option is NOT to cut anything, but to do some custom fiberglassing on the front bumper and make something that you do like.
