Default 1980 Corvette Rear Window Molding

Hi Guy's! I looked through all my Corvette catalogs and I cannot find any reproduction rear window moldings for a 1980. The black paint on mine is pealing off bad and I want to replace it. Any ideas who has them? Thanks, Don

If it's just the paint, why not repaint them?

I have the same problem. Why is the chrome window molding painted black anyway? Is it a glare issue or a looks issue?

I had mine Powder Coated way way back when Powder Coating was so new nobody new about it. 30 years later its still holding up. Since the Powder Coating will probably be a bit thicker than the original coating, the joins all fit tighter. There for you need to be care full when re assembling them to not push the joins in to far, as pulling them back out will reveal scratched new paint. If You find a local powder coater they generally have " Black Friday", Since Black is there most common color, all they do on Fridays is black.

78 and 79's where Polished Stainless, 80-82's where black. Many a Detail Shop buffed right threw the Black Paint on the 80-82's.

Did you remove them from the car? If so, how easy are they to take off so I can clean and repaint them?

I had to find some rear window moldings for a '79 a while back. craigslist, ebay, or the for sale forum here are about the only place you can find them. Try Paragon Corvette parts. Sometimes they have used ones.

I would suggest the easiest thing...repaint yours.

It attaches with clips. If it's coming up someone may have broken the clips and then just glued it back down. Might want to investigate how intact your attachment clips are.
