I want to order all new wheel studs for my 81. I have 2.5" adapters all the way around and the stock wheel studs are too short. Does anyone know if these will fit? http://www.moserengineering.com/othe...hevy-12mm.html
With the adapters I want to get a quality wheel stud that I don't have to worry about. If anyone knows of any other quality places that have studs that will fit please let me know.
Most adapters I've seen come with deep-reach lugnuts and therefore don't require long studs be installed on the car.
The studs you've linked won't fit unless you have the hubs machined to accept the larger knurl diameter.
The adapters came with those lugs but the stud is only even with the outside of the lugnut. I would feel much better with new and longer studs!
Do you happen to know what the stock knurl diameter is that I am looking for. I have new offset trailing arms and really don't want to machine them out.
It looks like the Knurl size is .475 but I can not find any longer studs in that size. I would like at least a 2" length.
The only one I can find is in a .480 knurl size. Is .005 enough that the lugs will not press in or does anyone think that they will still be able to press in.
A 2.5" spacer is HUGE!
Couldn't you get wheels that come with the proper offset?
Even with the longer studs, that puts a lot of extra force on your hubs and bearings.
Just my .02

I am running the C6 wheels so they don't come in different offsets. Spacers have been argued back and forth forever. My brother is a mechanical engineer and we have talked about running spacer vs the right back spacing and he said that from an engineering standpoint that it really doesn't add enough additional stress to hurt anything as long as the spacers are hub centric. Most autocross places will even let you run with them on.
I know there are a bunch of guys on here that have been running them for years with no issues
