Default 254,3 rwhp! @ Flywheel?

Hi,

One of the recent excellent meets of Corvette Club Denmark featured a dynotest of the vehicles. I had my 1979 L48 rebuilt during winter with a GM 'special performance' camshaft and flat hypereutic pistons bored .030 over. The car measured 254 hp at the rear wheels. I am wondering in what range my hp will be at the flywheel with no other mods apart from a removed A/C-pump?

Thanx in advance!

It wouldn't be exagerated to say that you have 300 hp to the engine. Based on a 20% drivetrain loss with an automatic. Manual trans is a little less, 17 %.

Change the heads and put a 2.5 exhaust true dual w/headers and I think it will be quit an improvement

Alwyn,

What kind of improvement would you suspect from changing to headers alone? I think that new cylinder heads are a bit out in the future...Ah, what the heck: Also, what would the total improvement be with new heads?

Well It depends on the heads...........I would think it would be a significant jump considering your "described" Cam....Of course headers would only benefit from a better flowing head...Headers alone i am guessing maybe 15 to 20 hp with a good 2.5 exhaust

don't forget it goes RWHP -> Net (engine with all access and stock exh)-> Gross (engine no accessories)

so it depends on what access are running on your engine. It is more likely Your gross is in the 330 to 360 range.

Your Net will be around 300-310
