Default Dewitt Spal Dual Fan Question

For those running the Dewitt electric dual fan, where are you mounting the temp sensor probe? Are you sharing the one on the intake manifold?

Mine came with a temp sensor already on the alum radiator to turn fans on and off. I still use the one on the block drivers side for the gauge.

With all due respect to Tom, the best place to control the temp of the engine is not sensing the temp of the water in the radiator. Sense the temp at the engine. Probably at the intake below the thermostat. That gives the best average temp of both sides of the engine. Ok probably not a big differential, but the engineer in me has to be ****.

A 69 here, OEM radiator with Dewitts dualspal fan. I located the temp sensor in the passenger side head. There is a pipe plug in the head just above the starter, same location as the drivers side head for temp guage. T

If the goal is to cool water in the radiator .... And a thermostat opens at a specific temp .. Using the rad as a temp source is perfectly fine.

The goal is to control the engine temp to its optimum operating temp for performance. The water in the radiator is a means to achieve that. really doesn't matter what it's temp is as long as the primary goal is achieved.

I agree that it's not that big of deal if the probe is in the coolant water somewhere. Food for thought...... On my L-82 with an auxiliary electrical fan from GM the temperature sensor is in the passenger side head above the the starter. That's where the GM engineers installed the temperature sensor.

All thanks. I have a 454 and just checked the heads if there was another place for the probe and there is not. I just have the one in the intake manifold that the temp gauge is running on so will have to share that one.
