How did you get 10.5 compression? Like what was the piston - cc and head cc?

That is a very mild cam if those really are the cam specs. I would like to have a knowledgeable person measure one of Chris's cams and verify the claimed specs to actual. By chance are you and Paul running the same cam?

I know that you can buy custom cranks, rod length, and pistons. But you don't see many 3.850 strokers

Tony based this on Pauls engine. The first cam was more conservative. Tony wants what he wants and that is fine. I told him I am not responsible for driveline failure and he agreed to let me off the hook.

Same cam in Pauls engine.

Really? So what do I have to gain from giving out bogus numbers when the customer can have them checked at anytime, PLUS they have to degree the camshaft.

From your statement above it says that you are impressed with the power that is being made. I thank you for your compliment.

Selecting a cam for and engine based on what parts it will break is rather absurd. I am glad he went with the bigger cam and he could have even gone bigger.

I would say somewhere around 600+HP and 575TQfor his build with excellent street manners.

Looking out for the customer I feel is good business. Most of my cam calls are, "well its not what I wanted". This is why I do a phone interview. If a customer wants 600HP and want to turn it 7000 rpm and I know we can make 600HP at 6300 rpm then that is what I would recommend.

My goal is to make power for the customer, not create problems and destroy a drive line.

gkull- I have followed your threads for many years and have respect for you and the many folks who have helped me over the years. You seem to usually consider most cams as mild. For his application, assuming it is mostly for street use, what would you consider to be aggressive? (I am not looking to get into a huge discussion about cams here, plenty of those to go around, just curious)

Sure, I tell people all the time I am usually not the first call but I will be your last call.

I feel it is my responsibility to make customers aware. To many times the job is sold and key supporting "cast" members are left out to make the price seem better. When I have guys that call me and they want to know why there large CID SBC is having oil pressure issues after spending $12K on a build. I have to honest and make people aware of what can happen.

Maybe this will help. If you want a street car I am not going to build you Comp eliminator power.

Same cam in Pauls engine.

Hey Chris..

So people know he did a grind and we talked about how it would perform power wise , I want for no reason other then i want 600 hp at the crank.. Or more .. Chris said np .. he then made a copy of pauldana's cam . He has warned me I will tear up the drive line.

I then today ordered a 4L80E , 3000 stall . I may go with the 6 speed valve body .I then talked to tracdogg2 , My Dana has a Eaton / 3.92 gears / billet caps .. All I need to make it bullet proof is 1350 U joint yokes , shafts and stub axles ( which may already be in the car )

I have no reason to doubt Chris he has been very reasonable honest and answered any question I have asked. and tomorrow the motor will be on the dyno and I will have a video of it and a print out of how it does.

My guess for hp is 615 and 570 tq ..
