Internal or external balanced
Thanks, Bob
These were internally balanced, so balancer (assuming stock setup) should be neutral and should not be orange... Since it's orange, at a minimum, i would guess balancer has been replaced, probably with an older/used one (but just guessin').
As for aviveation, it may not be connected, but its possible. If you have a replacement, could just w\swap them and see if it does anything, but they aren't necesarily cheap, so I would probably start trying to eliminate options before spending cash.
When I first got my 79, I had a vibration in the body at idle. I could not figure it out at first. The car had side pipes (not the hookers I have now) - it took me a couple days to realize the exhaust was bolted directly to the side of the frame (no insulators). One side was working loose, and the vibration was amplified through the car frame rails. It was very evident at idle, at stop lights, etc.
Is the vibration in the chassis, in the front end, or can you tell? if you rotate tires from to back, does the vibration change? I would look for clues to the location.
On acceleration, idle and cruising I get no vibration. It seems to be when I take my foot out of it on deceleration. I feel it in front of me, not front end or chassis or in the seat, more like the engine vibrating. It was there when I got the car last year, I even commented about it (bargaining chip). When I saw orange damper, I figured it was a bone yard/used piece = easy fix. I can see that the car has work done to it, but I don't think "Bubba" has been overly involved, some, but not much.
